I recently was struck with getting into some high-energy fiddle / banjo / southern / country / style music. I figured at least one band here would have that style so.... who is it? :) I mean, it could be real down and southern hee-haw music, i don't care. I though the Charlie Daniels Band was on here, but i think i was reading the name 'Charlie Hunter'. Not sure if that is the same genre. Anywya, thanks for the suggestions! Fiddles i think are a must in this stuff, so let's hear it!
Thanks... Tyler

Check out Big Leg Emma here on the archive. Great fiddle playing and a great band.

Del McCoury, the Steep Canyon Rangers and the Back Porch Ramblers play high powered, bluegrass fiddlin. And I know that Donna the Buffalo plays some great old-timey acoustic shows....not sure if any of those are included in the archive. Tribe

I would also suggest checking out some railroad earth. They are definitely a fiddle heavy band

"Railroad Earth"

They may be "fiddle-heavy", but I'd hardly include them in a list of "Southern hoe-down" bands.

Hank Williams III.
Beware, heavy honky tonk ahead. Some very adult language, too :)

They aren't in the archive (hopefully someone will convince them to allow it), but BR549's fiddler (Donnie Herron) is an awesome musician. I think if it has strings on it, he can play it. He is on some of the III shows from early 2004.

Michael McCanless was another great fiddler that toured with III. Unfortunately, he passed away from cancer in 2003.

The 2002-03-17 Hank Williams III show is one of my favorites. Michael "Fiddleboy" McCanless doing what he did best. "Orange Blossom Special" and "Long Black Veil" in particular. http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15684

Oh yeah, check out Leftover Salmon too. Same description as Acoustic Syndicate. Rocking, high energy, but no fiddle....

Keep an eye out for BR549. You won't find any better music. Chris Scruggs, grandson of Earl is one of two lead singers.

Acoustic Syndicate has all of that except the fiddle. They are a smoking band, and great electric and accoustic banjo, just no fiddle

You might also try several of the bands on www.bluegrassbox.com.

Try Strength in Numbers, New Grass Revival to name a few....
